Students ‘pay it forward’ by helping local animal shelter

Students pose at the sheler Elementary school students in Menands are ‘feline’ fine after helping animals that are being cared for by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Students in the Pay It Forward club recently made blankets for cats at the shelter and then paid a visit to the shelter, said club advisor Shauna Stack.

While at the shelter, the young scholars read books to several cats and guinea pigs and then went on a tour of the shelter.

Students who took part in the volunteering effort included Nora Lemyre; Sadie students look into a cage at the sheler Lemyre; Rajveer Singh Nathawat; Astrid McNamara; Manu Pacha; Elliana Manss; Madison Ries; Daniel Clemente and Xaria Leguillou.

“It was a great opportunity for our students to learn more about the shelter and to give of themselves,” said Stack.
