Now, he is taking on a new role, one that will directly impact many students and parents.

The village resident was recently appointed parent liaison for the Menands School and will help parents and school officials work better together in their singular goal of educating youth,

“I look forward to meeting new families and helping them in the interaction with the students,” said Buskey.

Born and raised in Queens, Buskey moved to the region to attend the University of Albany and never left.

For the past 14 years, he has resided in Menands and met many families through his son playing sports and through the school.Taj Buskey smiles while posing in a blue tee shirt

Buslkey said that when school is not in session, you can still find him at the playground “bringing water to the kids because they never bring water.”

Principal Kathleen Wylie said Buskey’s rapport with students and community members made him a natural selection for the newly created liaison role.

“He will do a great job in making sure the interaction between families and the school is positive for everyone involved. Whether it’s helping a parent prepare for a meeting, or helping the parent get the right information, we are confident in his ability to be there for the community and school,” Wylie said.
