Hello Menands Families,
We had such a great week here at Menands School. First, we would like to thank everyone for making our in-person Evening of the Arts a success. It was great to see many of you for the first time in over two years. Our students had so much fun showing off their artwork and performing for you all. Check out photos from that evening on our Facebook and clips from our choral performances on our YouTube channel. Also that evening, two members were elected to our Board of Education, as well as the passage of our 2022-23 school budget. Details can be found on our website.
Monday was the first day of our annual A-Z Days, end of school-year countdown. Students participated in a variety of activities, such as coloring for C-Day, dancing for D-Day and answered some estimation questions for E-Day. Details on the events for each day of the countdown are available on our website. Special thank you to Kerry Wroblewski, Stephanie Stanton and Lisa Ball for their hard work on this fun end-of-year celebration!
Next Thursday, in conjunction with our A-Z countdown, we will have guest authors John Grey and Janine DaTillio visit our students and read some of their wonderful books. In honor of Grey’s animal activism, we will be hosting a pet supply drive to benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Donations can be placed in the dropbox in the foyer of the main entrance to the school. Additionally, some of Grey’s publications will be featured on our Menands StoryWalk® on the Sage Estates Trail.
The PTA continues to seek donations of gently used or new sneakers to raise money for the PTA until the end of the school year. Thank you to everyone who donated shoes, they were able to recycle two large bags recently. Also, they are looking for volunteers to fill the positions of PTA President and Treasurer. More information is available on their Facebook.
As a reminder, there will be no school next Friday, May 27 and Monday, May 30. The district office will also be closed on those dates.
We hope you have a great weekend and stay cool!
