Pumpkin Run plants the seeds of fitness fun among students

Runners smile while holding their ribbonsApproximately 300 Menands School students took part in the annual Pumpkin Run on Oct. 31.

Cheered on by a crowd that included classmates, family and friends, the students completed races on the school grounds that ranged from 100 meters to 1 mile in length depending on the age level.

Physical Education teachers Shirah Bettinger and Ryan Alh organized the event that is designed to boost student activity.

Runner gets a high five from Principal Wylie“We really want to get the students active and promote physical fitness in a positive way” Ahl said.

Teachers and even Principal Kathleen Wylie took part in the run, encouraging runners and answering challenges put forth by the students.

“I beat my time from last year, so I am happy,” said Matthew Rodriguez, a 6th grade student.
