The Menands “Create a Character Pumpkin Contest” was featured Monday on a CBS6 news segment about the different ways local school districts are continuing their Halloween traditions.
Watch the story on our pumpkin contest.
To adhere to the district’s health and safety protocols, the pumpkin contest will be held virtually this year.
“We’re really trying to find a way so that students who are both in person and home can participate.” Principal Jennifer Cannavo said.
How to enter our virtual contest
- Take two photos – one of the pumpkin by itself and another with you and your pumpkin.
- Send both photos to aford@menands.org using your school email account.
- In your email message, be sure to include your name, grade and the pumpkin character’s name.
The deadline to enter the contest is 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
The contest is open to all Menands students. Winners will be selected from each grade level. All students in grades K-8 may vote for their favorite pumpkin at each grade level. In honor of Election Day, voting will begin on Tuesday, November 3. All votes, to be submitted using Google forms, must be cast by 3 p.m. on Friday, November 6.
