
On Tuesday, May 15, residents of the Menands Union Free School District approved the proposed $7,673,940 budget for 2012-2013 with a 73.8% approval rating. The proposition to establish a repair reserve for building maintenance projects passed with 76.8% approval. Steven Nicoll, current president of the Board of Education, was re-elected to a five year term, and Joseph Pustay was elected to a two year term. (See election results)
The Menands Library budget passed with an
approval rating of 82.6%. Linda DeDominicis was re-elected to a five
year term as a library trustee.

Eight Menands students were honored at the Sandra Morley Capital Zone Health and Physical Education Leadership Awards Ceremony on May 7 at Hudson Valley Community College. Congratulations to the award winners and their families.
At 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 10, the seventh grade health class, under the direction on Mrs. Lisa Wheeler, held a Hoops for Heart event to benefit the American Heart Association.
